The Afrusan Board is chaired by Dr. David Gordon Kazhila, a specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology with an extensive international career spanning Africa and North America. A graduate of the University of Zambia, Dr. Kazhila completed his internship at the University Teaching Hospital in Lusaka before training in Internal Medicine at the University of Natal, South Africa, earning Fellowship status with the College of Physicians of South Africa in 1998. He went on to specialize in Cardiology, registering as a Cardiologist with the Health Professions Council of South Africa in 2000.
Relocating to Canada in 2001, Dr. Kazhila achieved Fellowship in Internal Medicine with the Royal College of Physicians of Canada in 2004. His leadership roles have included Chief of Internal Medicine and Chief of Critical Care Medicine at Ross Memorial Hospital in Ontario. In addition to running his private cardiology practice in the City of Kawartha Lakes, he co-founded K2 Cardiac Care Inc., later acquired by Wellhealth Technologies Inc. in 2025.
Dr. Kazhila is also Co-Founder and former President of the Global Alliance of Zambian Healthcare Professionals (U.S.) and Co-Founder of UZIMA Health, a U.S.-based nonprofit. He serves on the Ross Memorial Foundation Board of Directors as Medical Representative. His commitment to Afrusan is fueled by a deep passion for Africa and a vision to mobilize the African Diaspora to give back to the continent, reversing brain drain through a Pan-African approach.
